The Thursday development comes as the battle over the northwestern Syrian border town in the Aleppo Province rages on between local Kurdish forces and the foreign-backed ISIL terror elements while a UK-based Syrian opposition group reports gains toward Kobani by the Takfiri force.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights further stated that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) have been forced to flee from the western outskirts of Kobani in the latest battles.
The monitoring group added that the YPG forces, along with local Kurdish fighters, are also preparing to dig in and wage street battles against the advancing ISIL terrorists.
Meanwhile, there are fears that the terrorist will likely engage in brutal massacres in case the Kurdish town falls under their control.
This is while the head of the administration of the Syrian border town has insisted that the widely-publicized US-led airstrikes against the ISIL militants have been ineffective.
Anwar Muslim noted on Tuesday that the airstrikes have not kept the ISIL terrorists from advancing toward the town situated in the northern Aleppo.
Despite the retreat of Kurdish fighters from the west of Kobani, fighting reportedly rages on in the eastern and southern flanks of the town, which remains under ISIL’s constant shelling.
The IS militants have had the strategic Syrian town under siege for the past several days.
Kobani’s top administrator has further stated that nearly 30,000 people, including women and children, are still under the siege, warning that a humanitarian crisis will likely transpire in the area if the ISIL’s advance toward the town continues.
