Iraqi Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadhan received executive Chief of the Ben Omer Group in the UAE, Mohammed Omer Ben Yousif and regional Director of the Group, Abdul-Rahman Ahmed, who handed him an Arab gold sword, adorned with diamonds and pearls as a gift to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Ramadhan expressed his appreciation for the initiative, which expressed the deep-rooted ties between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates as well as the latter’s position, aimed at ending both the “unjust embargo” and the “U.S-British daily aggressive acts” on Baghdad for more than twelve years.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, the Vice President said that ties between Iraq and UAE reflect the mutual eagerness on advancing joint Arab action. Ramadhan called for increasing visits and exchange of expertise to seek new ways to boost cooperation for establishing joint firms and projects.

For their part, the guests praised Iraq's heroic stand under the leadership of President Saddam Hussein in facing the decade-old unjust embargo, saying that the embargo gave Iraqi people and leadership further capabilities that enable them to shorten time and continue development in all realms.
