Iraq’s Foreign Minister Naji Sabri has urged the United Nations to “categorically reject (the) United States aggressive policy”, and work to end its “aggression”, which according to the Minister, targets an entire population
These remarks had been conveyed in a letter sent by Sabri to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. In the letter, Sabri mentioned that the U.S and British warplanes fired at barley farms in the Neniveh province.
The U.S and British “aggression” has continued on Iraq since 1991, targeting civilians, homes, farms and property, he added, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
US and British warplanes on May 28, 2002 “dropped flares” on barley farms in the Neniveh province, which eventually led to the burning of extensive farm areas, the letter added.
Sabri said that the repeated firing on farms, reflected the “immoral and inhuman” nature of US and British policy, which aimed at hurting the people of Iraq and targeting their food sources in Iraq, after an embargo had been imposed.
Such a policy, he continued, represented a “terrorist action” and a “crime against humanity” that the international arena must not neglect.
In addition, he urged the international community to end such a “terrorist policy” and apply the principles of international law, the news agency concluded. (albawaba.com)
