Agence France Presse reported Thursday that at least 15 militants were killed in clashes with Iraqi security forces in the country's north.
Security forces from Baghdad allegedly "repelled an insurgent attack on the town of Amirli" Wednesday, according to the AFP report.
An official from Suleiman Bek told reporters that the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) and allied Sunni extremists attacked the town Wednesday, but "Iraqi forces, with the help of military aircraft, repelled the attack on Amirli [from] three sides and killed 15 gunmen."
Amirli is located south of Suleiman Bek, which is currently ISIS controlled.
The Associated Press also reported Thursday that a bomb detonated in the main marketplace of Iraq's capital, leaving at least four people dead.
Police officers told AP that the explosion occurred early Thursday afternoon near in a Shiite mosque in the Shurja Market, where the bomb was allegedly stored in a wooden cart.
Another 12 were also reported wounded.
