At least 12 civilians died in attacks throughout Iraq and Baghdad killed 25 militants in the capital Tuesday, according to Agence France Presse.

In Mosul, six family members were killed inside their home. A car bomb also detonated in Tuz Khurmatu, killing a policeman. Attacks were also reported in Baiji and Tikrit.

Government forces also killed 25 militants southwest of Baghdad, according to Brigadier General Saad Maan. According to Maan, the militants were part of the jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) who were plotting to attack an army checkpoint.

More than 3,000 people have been killed in Iraq since the beginning of 2014 alone.
