Iraq urged the United Nations on Tuesday to list US and British violations of a UN-monitored demilitarized zone on the border with Kuwait that was set up in 1991.
"A good number of enemy planes over fly the demilitarized zone between Iraq and Kuwait on their way to carry out daily aggressions on Iraq," Foreign Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahhaf wrote in a message to UN Secretary Kofi Annan.
"This is a flagrant violation of (UN) Security Council resolutions," he said, adding that it was the duty of the UN Iraq-Kuwait Observers Mission (UNIKOM) "to record these violations and immediately inform the Security Council."
The air defenses of Iraq, which was expelled from Kuwait in the 1991 Gulf War after seven months of occupation, clash on an almost daily basis with US and British warplanes that enforce exclusion zones over most of the country -- BAGHDAD (AFP)
