Iraq executed 26 prisoners who were convicted on terrorism-related charges, according to the Associated Press Tuesday.

The Justice Ministry posted information about the Sunday execution on its website Tuesday, reporting that all 26 executed prisoners were Iraqi nationals who were found guilty of "carrying out 'ugly terrorist attacks' against the Iraqi people."

Human rights groups have been extremely critical of Iraqi court procedures, saying that many verdicts have been reached based on testimony that was given under torture.
