Poland's ambassador to Baghdad was lightly hurt in an explosion in the Iraqi capital on Wednesday, a diplomatic source in Iraq said. Asked about reports of an explosion targeting a Polish diplomatic convoy, the source told Reuters: "Yes, that's right. The ambassador is wounded, and we are still trying to relocate him".
A police source said one civilian died and five people were injured when three Polish embassy cars were hit by three separate roadside bombs in the Arasat district in central Baghdad. The police just said three of the wounded were from the Polish embassy.
Later, the AP reported that Gen. Edward Pietrzyk was taken to a U.S. military hospital. A civilian passer-by died after the parked car bomb was detonated about 10 a.m..
