A final draft of the Lebanese-Iraqi trade accord has been submitted for approval to Iraqi authorities, the head of the Lebanese Economic Forum, Wajih Bizri, said Friday.

Bizri said the Lebanese government had completed the draft accord and submitted it to Economy and Trade Minister Basil Fuleihan to present to Premier Rafiq Hariri. The premier has since sent the draft to Iraq via diplomatic channels, he said, cited by the Daily Star.

The forum praised the recent economic measures taken by the Hariri government to encourage foreign investment and lower production costs.

The forum said that the Lebanese-Iraqi trade accord was ready for signing by the two states. The forum praised next week’s visit to Lebanon by Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammed Mehdi Saleh.

The visit, said the paper, was aimed at opening an exhibition of Iraqi products in Lebanon – Albawaba.com
