At least six people died on Wednesday when a pair of roadside bombs went off in south-eastern Baghdad, Iraqi police said. According to Reuters, five people were wounded in the attacks in the Al-Amin district, which police said occurred in an area used as a stopping point by people travelling by bus to the capital from the Shi'ite south.
Late Tuesday a car bombing in Baghdad near an Iraqi army patrol in Zayouna killed 10 people, including six civilians, and wounded three civilians, police said.
Meanwhile, in Baghdad, two American soldiers were killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb went off near their vehicle in the western part of the capital. The soldiers were assigned to Multinational Corps-Iraq, the U.S. military said in a brief statement.
The U.S. military also said the most wanted al-Qaeda figure south of the capital was killed Saturday at the start of a Marine offensive in that area. Abu Jurah died by a precision-guided artillery round in the U.S. operations along the Euphrates River, the AP reported.
