At least 19 people were killed from Iraqi government airstrikes on the militant-held city of Fallujah over the past two days, according to Reuters Tuesday.
Baghdad has been shelling Fallujah in an attempt to force the jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) into surrendering control of the city.
ISIS has been in control of Fallujah since January.
Fallujah Health Office spokesman Ahmed al-Shami told Reuters that the 19 dead include women and children, and an additional 38 have also been wounded since Monday evening.
At least three barrel bombs have hit Fallujah in the past two days and another two have targeted the nearby town of Garma, according to the officials.
While Baghdad has repeatedly emphasized that its attacks are meant to target insurgents, many civilians have been killed from the government offensive on Fallujah and other militant-held areas over the past months.
More than 560,000 people have fled their homes in the Anbar province where Fallujah is located since ISIS took over the major city as well as Ramadi earlier this year.
Nearly 5,600 civilians have also been killed from escalating violence throughout Iraq this year alone.
