At least nine people are dead after two car bombers struck in Iraq on Tuesday, thee day after widespread attacks killed 55 people across the country, the Associated Press reported.
Seven were killed in the biggest attack in Aziziyah town, 55 kilometers (35 miles) southeast of Baghdad, which also left 20 people injured.
Earlier on Tuesday a car bomber attacked an army patrol north of the capital, killing two soldiers and wounding a further seven people, including five civilians.
Medical officials confirmed the death toll to AP, but spoke under condition of anonymity.
The car bombs come a day after a wave of violence swept Iraq, leaving 55 dead and over 200 wounded. The violence has cast doubt on the credibility of the country's provincial elections, due to be held on Saturday. It's the first vote in Iraq since American troops withdrew in December 2011.
