AFP reports that ten people have died in attacks in Iraq today. Four people belonged to same family, while six people were killed in other attacks.

In Sinair (west of Mozul), militants shot dead a mother and her four children. The family belonged to the Yazidi religious sect.

In another attack, a bomb killed two members of the same family. Gunmen also killed one Sahwa fighter and wounded another during an attack on a military checkpoint.

A further three people were killed as a car bomb exploded in the Mashtal area of Baghdad. 12 people were wounded in this attack.

Sunni Shia violence has grown alarmingly in Iraq and has reached levels not seen since the 2006 -2007 civil war.

With today’s attacks, more than 410 people have been killed so far this month, and over 5,100 since the beginning of the year, according to AFP figures based on security and medical sources.
