At least 12 people were killed in bomb blasts including a car bomb attack in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday, BBC reported.
Violence has erupted across Iraq in the last two months, as political and sectarian tensions have boiled over.
UN figures state that more than 700 people were killed in April, the highest death toll in almost five years. The number of people killed during May is thought to be more than 450 so far.
Car bomb
A car bomb killed four people in northeastern Baghdad, while a further two people were killed in a bombing in the city centre.
Three policemen were killed in a suicide bomb early on Thursday.
The Iraqi cabinet met to discuss overhauling national security strategies on Tuesday, in an attempt to stem the bloodletting.
