A bomber has blown up his car at a checkpoint in Ramadi, killing 11 Iraqi special police commandos and injuring nine policemen, two American troops and three civilians. The US 2nd Marine Division on Friday said the bomber blew himself up at a checkpoint on Thursday in the east of the city, which lies 110km west of Baghdad.
On the political front, Shiite and Kurdish officials delayed the second session of Iraq's elected parliament until at least Monday and warned that bargaining over the formation of a government could drag on for another week.
Political leaders cautioned that a government might not be formed until the end of this month. "The next meeting of parliament in principle will be Monday," said UIA negotiator Maryam Rayes, after talks with her two Kurdish counterparts in Baghdad, Fuad Massum and Barham Saleh, AFP reported.
