Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri will discuss means of strengthening relations with Algeria during an official visit to Algiers that will last several days, the official INA news agency reported Friday.

It said Sabri, who left Baghdad Thursday night, is visiting Algiers at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Belkhadem, who was in Baghdad in April.

His talks there will deal with "ways of enhancing bilateral ties in all fields, " INA said. Meanwhile, in a message to President Saddam Hussein earlier this week marking the 34th anniversary of the rise to power of the Iraqi leader's Baath Party, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika praised the close relations between Baghdad and Algiers and called for an end to United Nations sanctions imposed on Iraq since its 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
