Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, who arrived in Bamako Saturday night, was warmly welcomed by the people of Mali.
President Khatami arrived in Mali on the fourth leg of a seven-nation African tour which has already taken him to Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone, <i>IRNA</i> reported.
Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure and other senior state officials were at the airport to welcome President Khatami on his arrival. He was accorded a 21-gun salute. Malians were seen proudly waving Iranian flags as well as
pictures of Khatami and Toure.
