Iranian President Mohammad Khatami is scheduled to arrive
in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on April 26th on an official visit to the country at the invitation of his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov.
Iran's Ambassador to Tashkent Hossein Naraqian told the Islamic Republic News Agency on Sunday that during his visit to Uzbekistan, the Iranian president is due to hold talks with President Karimov, sign several agreements on mutual cooperation in the economic and cultural areas and
deliever a a lecture at Uzbekistan's Science Academy.
The Iranian diplomat added that President Khatami is to meet with professors and academics of the Uzbek academy and address Iranians residing in Uzbekistan.
Moreover, on the second day of President Khatami's visit to
Tashkent, Naraqian said, a pharmaceutical factory established under a joint venture project is to open in the historical city of Samarkand.
He added that a special medicare center, set up by Iran's Red Crescent Society is also to become operational in Uzbekistan.
Khatami and his accompanying delegation are also due to inspect historical monuments in Samarkand and Bukhara, the diplomat stated. (Albawaba.com)
