Former Majlis speaker and a 9th presidential elections candidate Mehdi Karroubi urged Iranian President Mohammad Khatami to publish the report on the violations that had taken place during the recent presidential elections.

In a letter to the president, Karroubi called on Khatami to let the nation whom he described "as the real patrons of the Islamic system" to know about these violations.

According to IRNA, he reiterated in his letter that the interests of the nation as well as the Islamic system required all-out cooperation with the next resident. Nevertheless, he added, the events occurred during the presidential elections - perhaps unprecedented in some cases - could not be easily overlooked.

Karroubi asked Khatami to assign a team comprised of representatives of the Guardian Council, the Interior Ministry and the candidates who ran in 9th presidential elections, to recount the votes cast in the two provinces of Tehran and Isfahan which he said had altered the results of the presidential elections.
