Iran’s Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi in New Delhi on Monday night called upon Iranians of all political hue to put aside their disputes in matters relating to national interests.
"Differences of ideas on political issues requires a dynamic society, but on issues relating to the foreign policy we should avoid from stoking up disputes in order to protect our national interests," he told a group of Iranians living in New Delhi, according to IRNA.
He further described "national unity" as one of the requirements of power in the country, adding "whenever we have maintained our unity, we have managed to easily move ahead in the face of some mistakes".
Kharrazi said world countries have grounded the basis of their foreign policy on "unanimity" and that "many countries have carefully specified their red lines, since we have also to learn to give our national interests a top premium."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is the first experience of an Islamic democracy in the region and we must try to put behind with the least cost various stages of a democratic evolution," he said. (Albawaba.com)
