Iran’s Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi called on Tuesday for "solidarity among Islamic countries in the face of the Zionist regime," on the eve of a meeting of the Arab League's ministerial council, IRNA news agency reported.
In a letter addressed to Amr Mussa, secretary general of Arab League, Kharazi said the "Zionist regime tries to divide the ranks of Islamic countries and Arabs."
The Iranian minister blasted recent accusations of secret Israeli-Iranian relations, especially after the seizure of a ship carrying Israeli military equipment headed for Iran. "This is in line with the futile efforts by Zionists aimed at dividing the ranks of Muslim and Arab countries in their fight against the Zionist regime," Kharazi said.
Tehran denied claims last week that a shipment of Israeli military equipment impounded in the German port of Hamburg was headed for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In addition, Kharazi expressed hope that the Arab League meeting in Cairo Wednesday would "play its role and contribute to reduce notably the pressures by the Zionist regime on the Palestinian people," IRNA added. (Albawaba.com)
