Iranian Deputy Minister of Culture Seifollah Daad resigned from his post on Saturday to pursue his interest in filmmaking, reported the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.
"My letter of resignation was submitted to Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ahmad Masjed Jameie two weeks ago," he told the agency.
Appointed deputy minister by former culture minister Ataollah Mohajerani in 1997, Daad had promised to ease censorship in Iran's film industry.
Daad has made many films, including Kani Manga and Under the Rain.
The ministry has so far not commented on Masjed Jamei's reaction, said IRNA – Albawaba.com
