ALBAWABA - Iran executed a man who was convicted of spying for Israel, AFP reported, citing the Iranian judiciary.
Iran executed Pedram Madani, who was convicted of sharing information with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, the judiciary confirmed on Wednesday.
"After identification, arrest, and judicial proceedings against Pedram Madani, who was spying in favour of the Zionist regime, and following the complete process of criminal procedure and the final confirmation and upholding of the verdict by the Supreme Court, he was brought to justice and executed," the judiciary's Mizan Online shared.
On the other hand, the mother of Pedram Madani appeared in a video appealing to overturn the court's decision to execute her son, who she said was a 41-year-old engineer.
Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) warned days ago that Iran will be sentencing Pedram Madani on May 28, adding that he was transferred from Evin Prison to Ghezelhesar Prison.
IHRNGO Director, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam said in a statement: "Death sentences in Iran, especially on charges such as espionage, are issued and carried out without any due process. These executions are extrajudicial killings that the international community should not remain indifferent to."
