The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) aired a program late Wednesday night featuring three Iranian-born US agents arrested in Iran for acting against its national security.
It was a special program on Haleh Esfandiari, 67, head and founder of the Middle East Program of Wilson Center in the United States funded by the US Congress. Esfandiari, Yahya Kian Tajbakhsh and Ramin Jahanbeglou were detained in Iran for engaging in "subversive activities."
According to Esfandiari, the Wilson Center was acting as a link between Iranians and US organizations and foundations whose main goal was to fortify the social trends that act in line with the interests of the aliens. She added that the center's Iran-related activities and programs were sponsored and financed by the Soros Foundation, a US body owned by George Soros who has played a key role in the schemes leading to colorful revolutions in some former Soviet republics in the recent years.
"Their aim (America) is to bring about a change in the decision making bodies in Iran from within, to bring about a change in the decision makers themselves," Esfandiari said. "My real aim in contacting these people was, in my opinion, to identify the key figures." The aim was "to invite them to these sessions, speeches and conferences and connecting them to a domestic and external network," she said.
The second agent who spoke in the program was Yahya Kian Tajbakhsh, 46, who acted as a consultant and coordinator of the Soros Foundation in Iran-related affairs.
Tajbakhsh said in the program "The fact that American administration gave money to the Soros Foundation reflects the fact that Soros and America share the same views on Iran."
"I was giving consultations to Soros about the social and political affairs of Iran," said Tajbakhsh.
Ramin Jahanbeglou, 51, was the third agent talking in the program who said he had established his cooperation with US political institutes in 2001.
