An Iranian convicted of spying for the CIA and passing classified materials abroad was hanged Sunday in Tehran's Evin Prison, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.
The agency quoted a report by the judicial organization of armed forces as saying Mohammad-Reza Pedram had admitted "acting against Iran's Islamic regime" from 1986 to 1996.
"In 1986, he fled the country and was hired by CIA, but he was arrested ten years later when he flew to Tehran on a false passport," the agency said.
It said the death sentence, handed down against Pedram after he was court-martialed, had been upheld by the Supreme Court - Albawaba.com
