ALBAWABA- The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is conducting military exercises in western Iran, near the border with Iraq, which will continue until Tuesday, according to Iran's state news agency, IRNA.

The drills, which began on Friday in Kermanshah Province, are aimed at "enhancing combat readiness and vigilance," an IRGC official stated.

These exercises come as tensions escalate following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau, in Tehran on July 31.

Iran and Hamas have accused Israel of carrying out the killing, though Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement officially, fearing Iran's reaction.

The assassination has sparked fears of a wider Middle Eastern conflict, with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas potentially expanding.

Ali Fadavi, the Deputy Commander of the IRGC, emphasized that Tehran will follow the directives of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, regarding retaliation.

"The Supreme Leader's orders to exact severe punishment on Israel in retribution for Haniyeh's blood are clear and direct... and they will be executed in the most effective way possible," Fadavi stated on Friday.
