Iran on Thursday successfully tested its own version of air-to-surface TOW missile near the city of Isfahan.
The missile was fired from helicopters at the hypothetical enemy targets during a shooting contest in which pilots from eight air bases participated, reported IRNA.
"Our skilled and young pilots successfully guided these missiles at the intended targets and proved that they make best of their (1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed) battle experience," said Army commander of ground forces, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi-Far.
Iran's home-made missiles operate better than foreign prototypes in view of their range and destruction, he added.
The commander stressed the Islamic Republic's use of armament for defensive purposes, saying "our people and the country's armed forces have indicated during the past that they are the promoters of peace in the region and will stay put on this decision in the face of the existing plots."
