Iran and Syria will soon sign a contract to boost tourism cooperation, said the new Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Tarky Muhammad Saqer, on Saturday.
Saqer told the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) that the two countries stress the great importance of expanding their relations in the tourism sector and urged Tehran and Damascus to exert more effort toward this end.
He announced his country's readiness to cooperate with Iran's various institutes to promote mutual tourism activities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Syrian ambassador referred to an upcoming coordination session of Muslim states' tourism ministers, saying: "The gathering will enhance the tourism-resulted interests of the Muslim states."
The session is to be held on August 27-28 this year in Tehran.
He referred to lack of the lack of roads and communication networks, hotels, restaurants and experts familiar with tourism issues, as well as the political and social seclusion and lack of security as the main problems faced by the Muslim states in the tourism industry, noting that "by enhancing tourism activities, the countries will be able to expand their relations with other countries and propagate the Islamic culture and civilization." – Albawaba.com
