ALBAWABA - Iran has launched dozens of drones toward Israel, The Jerusalem Post said citing Israeli and US intelligence. Moreover, IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that Israel is ready to defend itself against the expected Iranian strike.
The Israeli army said that it is ready to shoot down Iranian drones which are expected to reach Tel Aviv's airspace in a few hours.
The Iranian television confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's attack just began with drones launched against targets in the occupied territories.
Israeli airspace is closed until 7 a.m. on Sunday, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority said on Saturday night.
Both Jordan and Iraq have also announced the temporary closure of their airspace amid fears of growing tension in the region.
Some Israeli media also reported that its radars were hacked by the Hanzala group.
Iran has warned to respond to the Iranian consulate attack in Syria's Damascus during which seven Revolutionary Guards, two of them generals, were killed. Tehran blamed Israel for the attack and threatened to respond to the attack.
Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed in a televised speech after Eid al-Fitr prayers in the capital that Israel "will be punished" for attacking the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Earlier, a US official told the Wall Street Journal that Israel is preparing for a "direct attack from Iran on southern or northern Israel as soon as Friday or Saturday".
Even while the attack only resulted in minimal damage and was mostly shot down by Israel and its allies, worries over a possible Israeli retaliation have nonetheless fueled fears of a full-scale regional war.
