The Swiss ambassador to Tehran, who is also looking after US interests in the Islamic Republic, was summoned on Wednesday to the Foreign Ministry to be informed of Iran's harsh protest over the interception of an Iranian oil tanker by several American vessels in the Persian Gulf. According to official reports, the head of the American affairs department at the Foreign Ministry, Mehdi Mohtashami denounced the move as “contrary to the
international laws” and called for “measures to avoid a repetition of such acts.” For his part, the Swiss ambassador expressed his ”deep regrets” over the incident and pledged to convey Iran's protest to the American government at the earliest. (Albawaba.com)
