Iran, Kuwait Discuss Expansion of Relations

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Education and Research Affairs Sadeq Kharrazi met on Sunday with Kuwaiti Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad All-Abdullah As-Salim As-Sabah on a wide range of issues concerning mutual, regional, international and Islamic topics, according to IRNA. 

 

Kharrazi arrived in Kuwait City on Saturday to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which is to display the documents of the past 40 years of relations between Iran and Kuwait.  

 

The two sides discussed the existing good relations between their countries, as well as the strong determination of both sides to further enhance ties. Kharrazi also met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah on the same day.  

 

During the meeting, both sides pointed out the outstanding and vital role the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kuwait play in maintaining regional stability and security. They also called for an increase of bilateral cooperation to further strengthen security in the region.  

 

The two also called for expansion of mutual cooperation in several fields including studies and research, as well as facilitating contacts between intellectuals of the two countries.  

 

Kharrazi also highlighted the two countries' support for the Palestinians until they achieve their legitimate rights, formation of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, as well as the liberation of all occupied territories. (Albawaba.com)
