The head of Iran's National Security Council has warned Israel about its attack on Syrian soil during his meeting with regime officials in Damascus, AP reported on Monday.
Saeed Jalili, while on his official visit to the war torn nation, said the Assad government had Iran's full support and claimed Syria would remain "firm and able to face all the arrogant (Western) conspiracies."
"Just as it regretted its aggressions after the 33-day, 22-day and eight-day wars, today the Zionist entity will regret the aggression it launched against Syria," Jalili said
Israel launched an attack on a research facility near Damascus on Tuesday night. Both U.S. and Israeli sources have said they were targeting anti-aircraft weapons that the Syrian regime were sending to Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon.
Iran has been a major source of weapons and troops for President Assad's government during the 22-month conflict. The United Nations estimates that around 60,000 people have so far been killed, many of whom were civilians.
