Iran: Israel can't threaten us

Israel is by no means in a position to threaten Iran, the country's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Monday. According to IRNA, he made the remarks at his weekly press conference while commenting on a reported Israeli drill in the Mediterranean with tyhe scenario of air strike on Iran.

"It is a hollow slogan and they do so whenever they want to transfer their internal crisis out of the regime structure," Hosseini said, recalling the "humiliating defeat" of Israel in its 33-day war in Lebanon during the 2006 summer.

Commenting on Israeli air force exercise, the Iranian official said the move was a way through which Israel wanted to get rid of its several domestic crises and distract public opinion. "Tel Aviv regime needs such moves to repair humiliated spirit of Israeli officials after being defeated by forces of the Lebanese resistance movement in summer 2006 (July-August)," Hosseini stressed.
