Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi described as positive in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday his two-day visit to Malaysia before leaving the country for Japan.
Speaking to <i>IRNA</i> prior to his departure, Kharrazi said that he discussed Tehran-Kuala Lumpur regional and international cooperation
in his talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi and Foreign Minister Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar.
Both countries opposed unilateralism and instead supported enacting laws and regulations at international scenes, Kharrazi said.
He stressed that as Malaysia was the current head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) as well as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), it was necessary to make some consultations and coordination with it regarding problems facing the Islamic world.
Kharrazi said that the two sides discussed Tehran`s stands on its nuclear program and its current talks with the European officials.
As for the nuclear program, Kharrazi said, Tehran has acted with transparency and commitment as a result of which the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that it did not find any sign of Tehran using the nuclear energy for military purposes and for development of nuclear weapons.
This, Kharrazi added, was indicative of Tehran`s good behavior and a significant step taken for confidence-building, he added, according to the agency. The foreign minister emphasized that Tehran would never abandon its legitimate right to use nuclear energy for peaceful means.
Kharrazi left Malaysia Tuesday for Japan to discuss issues of mutual interests with senior Japanese officials.
