Iran denounced Thursday the "illogical and unrealistic" stance of the group of eight most industialized nations on Tehran's nuclear capacity after the group rebuked the country for allegedly pursuing nuclear weapons.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said, "the Islamic Republic has practically indicated its full commitment with regard to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and safeguards."

"Iran's broad and transparent cooperation with the (International Atomic Energy) agency affirms this," he said, according to IRNA

The Group of Eight summit, which brought together, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia, urged Tehran to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency, expressing worries that Iran's suspension of enrichment-related activity was "not yet comprehensive."
