Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Sunday rejected claims on presence in Iran of Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. "He is not in Iran," stressed the spokesman at his weekly press conference.
"This claim is unfounded and part of the US psychological warfare against Iran," he said, according to IRNA.
Referring to the US propaganda against Iran, he said, "US officials first announced that al-Sadr had escaped from Iraq then they said he had the intention of travelling to Iran but Tehran did not grant him visa.
