Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari said on Sunday that the goal of American President George Bush's recent tour to the region was to separate Iran from the regional states. In an interview with Al-Jazeera Television, he said, "In case of US invasion of Iran, the US forces will be targeted by Iran's long-range missiles."
"After the US authorities found out that their attempt to separate Iran from its neighboring countries, particularly the Arab states, were in vain, and following President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's successful visit to the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, the US president decided to come to the region to lobby for his own policy," the commander added.
The main objectives of Bush's trip to the region were support for materialization of their objectives in the occupied Palestine, backing the Zionist regime and help salvage their plans in the Middle East which were on the verge of failure, he said.
Jafari reiterated that invasion of the Gaza Strip was the main outcome of President George Bush's visit to the region. "Islamic vigilance and solidarity is the greatest power of Iran," he said. The westerners, particularly the Americans see their powers in weapons and materialistic features, while the power of the Iranian nation has emanated from the help of the Almighty God, the IRGC commander said.
