Iranian President Mohammed Khatami held talks Tuesday with his Croatian counterpart, Stjepan Mesic, on bilateral and regional issues, reported the Iranian news agency (IRNA).

The Croatian president, heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, arrived in Tehran late Monday for a three-day official visit.

Later in the day, he will meet with supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other top officials, said IRNA.

He is also to visit the historical cities of Isfahan and Shiraz in central and southern Iran.

Mesic’s visit is the first by a European head of state to Tehran after Khatami's re-election in a landslide victory earlier this month – Albawaba.com
