Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Monday issued an order for officials to use every possible means to eradicate organized crime and financial corruption, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) on Monday.

Khamenei called on the executive and judiciary branches to cooperate to wipe out all traces of corruption and organized crime in Iranian society.

"Crime and corruption not only ... undermine the guarantees for boosting Iran’s economic activities, but also ... jeopardize the safe atmosphere in the country," IRNA cited him as saying in a letter.

Khamenei had previously called on officials to deal seriously with cases of corruption, organized crime and discrimination in the society at large and in state institutions, said IRNA – Albawaba.com
