Intermec Technologies has announced it will launch its all-new CN2 mobile computer, a powerful and reliable pocket-sized mobile data collection device for tough mobile computing applications, at GITEX 2005. Its ergonomic design provides easy, single-handed operation in a form factor small enough to carry almost anywhere that data collection is required.
Unlike consumer-grade or “semi-rugged” PDAs, the CN2 delivers the durability necessary for data collection in a full range of in-store retail operations – including price verification, shelf pricing, receiving and cycle-counting – and size-sensitive, light-industrial operations, including receiving, putaway and picking, shipping and inventory management. Competitively priced and fully featured, the CN2 is ideal for those requiring the small footprint of a pocketable device.
“The CN2 combines two critical requirements: it’s easily portable, slipping easily into a shirt pocket, and it is able to withstand the rigours of real-world work,” said Colin Summers, Regional Manager for Intermec Middle East and Africa. “Companies can now have the convenience of a PDA form factor and equipment they know will hold up for true investment protection.”
Colin, went on to say about the up and coming GITEX Dubai, “This is without a doubt one of the most significant events of the year and it seemed only logical to showcase this rugged new product at GITEX, so clients and users can experience a hands on introduction.”
With an Intel® XScale™ processor and Microsoft CE .NET operating system, the CN2 balances the need for real-time data collection performance with full-shift power management functionality. The operating system minimises memory requirements, reduces complexity and allows the application developer to completely customize the user interface.
The CN2’s Cisco Certified Extension v1-compatible and Wi-Fi®-certified 802.11b radio ensures consistent performance by providing the best available wireless network throughput, reliability and security. The mobile computer is also available in a wired version for batch applications that can be upgraded with a WLAN radio later if real-time connectivity is needed.
