InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's largest hotel operator, announced today that Janet Turner has been appointed as Sales Manager, Conference and Banqueting at the InterContinental Citystars Cairo.

Rocketing into the new role at the Heliopolis-based property, Turner has more than 10 years experience in sales and marketing with leading automotive and racing organizations including DRM Ferrari Racing and Brands Hatch Circuits Limited. This role is the first Turner has held with the largest hotel operator in the Middle East, and she looks forward to joining the team of employees who contribute to the success of more than 70 InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties across the region.

An accomplished sales professional, Turner – who has racked up more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and a track record for the growing revenues in Conference and Banqueting departments – aims to achieve the same levels of success in her new role at InterContinental Citystars Cairo.

The British/New Zealander, who has a passion for travel and sports including scuba diving, sailing and golf, said: “I look forward to living in a new city and being part of the team at this larger-than-life hotel, set in the heart of the groundbreaking 115,000 square meter Citystars Heliopolis complex – Cairo’s largest lifestyle, retail and leisure complex. It is going to be a wonderful challenge being responsible for 19 different banqueting facilities – including the largest ballroom in Cairo, which seats up to 2,000 people.”

As the largest mixed-use urban development in the Middle East, the $1 billion Citystars Heliopolis is larger than any project of its kind in Europe. With the InterContinental Citystars Cairo set in the amazing complex, guests are provided with instant access to the twelfth largest shopping centre in the world – with 470 retail outlets, an entertainment center, cinemas, bowling alley and the only indoor roller coaster in the Middle East.

The unique InterContinental Citystars Cairo property is sure to benefit from having a seasoned professional on board, believes Denis Johnson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, InterContinental Hotels Group Middle East and Africa. He said: “As one of the largest hotels in the region, the property has been designed to accommodate business travelers and holiday makers. It is a phenomenal property and we look forward to welcoming Janet to the team.”
With an emphasis on providing the ultimate in service, InterContinental Citystars Cairo caters for all tastes of accommodation with 790 Superior and Club InterContinental rooms, suites, Garden Wing, Poolside rooms, apartments and studios. Located just seven minutes from Cairo International Airport and 10 minutes from the Cairo International Conference Centre, the hotel has invested in fine dining options including a Japanese teppanyaki, fish market, Mediterranean and Lebanese restaurants. Guests also can enjoy the delights of the 3000 sqm Lifestyle Aqua Spa and Wellness Centre, as well as the squash and tennis courts, a large outdoor swimming pool and children's pool as well as 19 different banqueting facilities including the largest Ballroom in Cairo seating up to 2200 people.
