Under the patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, INSEAD, the leading international business school, will host its inaugural Leadership Summit Middle East in Abu Dhabi on 17 January 2010.

Focusing on the theme of ‘Leadership in a Changing World: From Dreams into Action,’ the Summit will gather distinguished leaders from business, government and academia from around the world to present their views and direct discussions on innovation and leadership.

“INSEAD’s inaugural Leadership Summit in the Middle East complements our existing portfolio of Leadership Summits in Asia and Europe, and underscores our commitment to delivering the highest quality events for world leaders to discuss the most pressing issues concerning business and society,” said J. Frank Brown, Dean of INSEAD.

Following INSEAD’s Leadership Summit Asia which took place in November 2009, this is the first INSEAD Leadership Summit to be hosted in the Middle East. Based on the latest research from the Arab world and globally, Summit participants will explore a range of topics, including the region’s long-term aspirations in the face of rapid social and organisational change. Additionally, leaders will discuss human capital in the Gulf region and leading innovation during challenging economic times.

INSEAD recently expanded its presence into the Gulf, by establishing its third campus in Abu Dhabi with the full support of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).

“The Government of Abu Dhabi considers advancement in education to be an integral part of its social and economic development plans and future growth of the nation, and we are particularly proud of our partnership with the ‘Business School for the World,’” said H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of ADEC.

“ADEC welcomes the establishment of the Leadership Summit Middle East as an important forum for open dialogue that will help us continually improve our approach to business, government and academia,” he added.

Keynote speakers include: His Excellency Dr Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei, Deputy Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman, Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, and Dalia Mogahed, Executive Director, Gallup Centre for Muslim Studies and an advisor to President Obama on faith and neighbourhood partnerships.

Renowned INSEAD faculty will discuss ‘The Achilles Heel of the Leader’ and ‘Reconciling Performance with Progress’. Interactive panel sessions will feature senior executives from Summit sponsors Booz & Company and Tourism, Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of major cultural, residential and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi.

Lee Tabler, CEO of TDIC, said: “This partnership further reinforces our commitment to boosting Abu Dhabi’s educational sector by equipping people with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to contribute to a progressive global society and economy.
With education as one of TDIC’s key pillars, we are proud to support INSEAD in their 50th anniversary year and welcome their dynamic, educational programmes to the UAE.”

“At Booz & Company, we are committed to joining forces with leading business education entities, such as INSEAD, in order to share our experience in helping the region’s organisations achieve business excellence. In so doing, we aim to help nurture innovation while furthering education and business knowledge, for future growth and development in the region,” commented Joe Saddi, Chairman of the Board.

The Summit will mark the Middle East launch of INSEAD’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which will run for the academic year of 2009 – 2010.
