Innovative concepts boost visitor turnout at DOMOTEX Middle East 2008
‘Designers Corner’ and ‘Creative Flooring’ sections generate substantial interest among the thousands of visitors
Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch, organisers of the recently concluded DOMOTEX Middle East 2008, the only dedicated carpets and floor coverings exhibition in the MENA region, has attributed the increased visitor and exhibitor participation in this year’s show to the innovative elements introduced this edition, such as the Designers Corner. DOMOTEX Middle East 2008 brought together 280 exhibitors from 36 countries, in addition to attracting 6,430 visitors over the three days of the show.
Angela Schaschen, Managing Director, Deutsche Messe Dubai, said, “We are pleased with the overall response generated by the 2008 edition of DOMOTEX Middle East, which saw an increase in visitor turnout and exhibitor participation. Exhibitors and visitors alike have expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of this year’s show; while visitors had a chance to see some of the latest developments in the carpets and floor coverings industry, exhibitors took advantage of the huge turnout of trade visitors to promote their latest offerings.”
A major attraction at this year’s DOMOTEX Middle East exhibition included the unveiling of the luxurious collection featuring Swarovski-Crystals, a 24-karat gold cork mosaic, and 3D laminate from PARADOR.
DOMOTEX Middle East 2008 also saw the inauguration of a new Designers Corner sponsored by the American University in Dubai’s Department of Interior Design. The Corner comprised a special designer’s lounge area featuring leading Gulf carpet and floor covering projects intended to inspire architects and designers.
The annual ‘Creative Flooring’ section at DOMOTEX Middle East featured a live demonstration area showcasing time-saving and quality-enhancing techniques and new products. The demonstrations, conducted by professionals from the UK, focused on ways to install mixed material combinations on a variety of surfaces including wall-to-wall carpets, wood flooring, carpet tiles and laminate flooring.
Majeed Mehrtash, CEO, MTE Middle East, who are taking part in the exhibition for the first time, said, “DOMOTEX Middle East 2008 served as a perfect platform for all flooring professionals to showcase their products to the thousands of trade visitors at the event. This is the first time we are taking part in DOMOTEX Middle East, and the success we have achieved at the show has meant that we will be regular participants in this important trade event.”
The three-day exhibition also highlighted the latest in hand and machine-made carpets and rugs; textile floor coverings; fibres, yarns and textiles; and resilient floor coverings. Various wood and parquet flooring; laminate artificial grass and sports flooring; natural stone, marble and ceramic tiles; laying skills; and cleaning and application technologies were also on display.
