Canon Middle East today announced details of a class-leading PIXMA printer, the PIXMA MP540, which is set to supply creatives and home office users class-leading resolution and print quality – at an unparalleled price point.
The PIXMA MP540 is in a class of its own against competitor models at this year’s GITEX 2008, offering a sleek, low-profile design and an astounding 9600x2400dpi print resolution with 1pl ink droplets. It features Canon’s unique FINE print head with the newly announced ChromaLife100+. When used with Canon’s new inks and media, the
PIXMA MP540 produces ChromaLife100+ long-lasting prints.
The PIXMA MP540 replaces the PIXMA MP520, and the new arrival surpasses its predecessor on resolution and ink droplet size, while the addition of a dye black ink tank means PIXMA MP540 now has new 5 Single Inks comprising dye and pigment blacks as well as dye Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. The PIXMA MP540 is also capable of fast prints, producing borderless 10x15cm images in approximately 41 seconds.
PictBridge connectivity
For PC-less printing the PIXMA MP540 has PictBridge connectivity, allowing users to print photos from compatible mobile phones, digital video cameras or digital still cameras. It is also possible to print directly from memory cards – all popular formats are supported – as the PIXMA MP540 has built-in memory card slots. This impressive All-In-One incorporates a 2400dpi scanner and has the capacity to scan to memory card and USB stick, providing users with quick and convenient methods to backup, transport or transfer important photos, documents or data.
Ease of use and functionality
Canon has made great strides in increasing the levels of functionality through the PIXMA range and the PIXMA MP540 incorporates elements that ensure ease of use. Among them are an Easy-Scroll Wheel and 5cm TFT display that make menu navigation simple and intuitive. The PIXMA MP540 features two paper trays for increased media handling flexibility – users can have photo paper and plain paper installed at the same time. Quick Start mode allows the printer to be in operation in a matter of seconds.
Advanced software solutions
Software applications are included with the PIXMA MP540 that give users greater control over the images they copy, scan and print. Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX is an intuitive program for photo printing and projects such as calendars and albums. It also features Auto Photo Fix, a simple application that corrects red-eye.
MP Navigator EX is a comprehensive piece of software for managing and editing scanned images and documents. There are user-friendly PDF editing features, as well as image correction and enhancement options.
