An anti-tank missile exploded during a military demonstration in southern India on Thursday, killing a technician and setting fire to a facility which stores part of the country's arsenal of guided weapons.

The United News of India said the explosion occurred at a production center of the state-owned Bharat Dynamic Ltd. near the southern city of Hyderabad.

Five others were injured when the missile flew awry and hit a wall and exploded during a demonstration, officials from the armaments company said.

The blast ignited portions of the complex, which also houses surface-to-surface Prithvi missiles and other Indian-built guided missiles.

The fire was swiftly brought under control.

The accident coincided with India's successful test-flight of its glitch-ridden Light Combat Aircraft in the nearby city of Bangalore -- NEW DELHI (AFP)
