ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has come under heavy fire from the newly elected Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, who declared, "We are disgusted by your actions, Netanyahu" Arriving at the party's annual conference, Harris made his first speech before becoming office the next week.
Harris then turned his attention to Israel's activities, denouncing the Israeli government's strategy as motivated by retaliation and causing civilian losses, especially among youngsters. He underlined how such acts are in direct opposition to humanity's core values and underlined how urgently a ceasefire and the unimpeded distribution of relief are required.
Harris also reaffirmed Ireland's preparedness to recognize the state of Palestine and its support for a two-state resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
Speaking on a variety of national and international topics, Harris emphasized the difficulty of irregular migration in Ireland and the necessity of a strong structure to successfully manage it. In this context, he emphasized the importance of cooperation with the European Union.
Speaking about the crisis between Russia and Ukraine as well as Israel's continuous attacks on Gaza, Harris reaffirmed Ireland's support for Ukraine and its determination to house families escaping the fighting. In addition, he demanded that all inmates be released immediately and denounced the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Following former Prime Minister Leo Varadkar's resignation last month, Harris was chosen leader of the Fine Gael party. Next week's parliamentary vote is set to affirm Harris as Ireland's youngest prime minister.
