ihorizons country manager gives lecture at carnegie mellon

iHorizons Country Manager in Jordan Mr. Moayed Dib, held a lecture today at Carnegie Mellon University (CMUQ), as a guest speaker in the ‘Making the Connection’ lecture series, aimed at preparing students for entering the real world business environment.

Mr. Dib, talked to students on the theme “Making the transition from student to working professional: the challenges and expectations”, discussing what a graduate might expect when entering a professional working environment, such as iHorizons. Students also learned about the different jobs they could expect at iHorizons, as a graduate in one of the region’s most successful IT businesses.

“The classroom is very different to the real world, and we want to help prepare students for life as graduates. I wanted to paint a realistic picture about what they are likely to experience and tell them about the jobs that are available to them, given the skills and experience gained through study.”

The lecture series form part of CMUQ’s Internships Programme, ‘Connections’, which focuses on preparing students for the life after University. The programme also provides students with internship opportunities with leading companies in Qatar, such as iHorizons. iHorizons has already supported the programme by providing two students with the opportunity to complete summer internships at its offices in Qatar.

Mr. Khalid Kalaweh, Country Manager of iHorizons Qatar said in a comment “iHorizons mission is to be the IT leader in the region, by promoting local capabilities and investing in research and development. We feel CMUQ’s focus on promoting and developing students goes hand in hand with what we’re trying to achieve. We are very proud to be lending our knowledge and skills to these students, who will be the next generation of Qatar’s business leaders, the driving forces and CEO’s of tomorrow.”

iHorizons follows a long line of other influential companies in Qatar, such as the Ministry of Finance and Qatar Petroleum, which have previously provided inspirational figureheads to talk to students about making the transition from classroom to boardroom and of the hurdles and milestones they should expect to pass on the way.
