Two Palestinians were shot and injured after Israeli forces on Monday raided the Qalandiya refugee camp north of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, detaining three residents.

Locals told Ma’an that the forces stormed the camp at 4:00 a.m. and used explosives to break down apartment doors, ransacking several homes and stores in the camp.

Clashes broke out during the raid between the military forces and Palestinian residents of the camp, leaving two injured.

An Israeli army spokesperson did not have immediate information but told Ma’an that they were looking into the incident.

Tensions between residents of the Qalandiya refugee camp and Israeli military forces sparked in recent weeks, with frequent clashes breaking out between armed residents -- believed to be affiliated with Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades -- and the forces.

Israeli forces on Friday entered the camp and took measurements in preparation for the demolition of three homes in the camp belonging to Palestinian residents killed while carrying out attacks on Israeli military.

Four Palestinians from the Qalandiya refugee camp were killed last week, three while carrying out attacks and the fourth during clashes with Israeli forces inside the camp.
