IDdesign, the international Danish furniture and lifestyle franchise of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, has tied up with Louis Poulsen to exclusively retail in the UAE its range of luxury lighting.
Denmark-based Louis Poulsen is a leading producer of quality lighting and is known for using famous architects and designers. Since 1892, the company has produced some of the most innovative home, architectural and street lighting.
“Much research and development goes into the design of each Louis Poulsen product to make sure it provides perfect light quality. Many of the company’s products have won design awards and have even been described as works of art in their own right. IDdesign’s existing Dubai outlet on Dubai-Sharjah Road will stock Louis Poulsen’s PH range designed by Poul Henningsen, and its AJ range designed by Arne Jacobsen.
A key feature of the PH range is its ability to reflect light in such a way that the glare is effectively diffused and shadow free. The well-known Louis Poulsen ‘artichoke’ lamp is a good example.
Designed in 1958, the lamp employs leaf-like elements in its unique form, creating dramatic, atmospheric lighting appropriate for elegant commercial settings and larger domestic spaces.
The Louis Poulsen concept for lighting emphasises the importance of lighting placement and concealing the source of diffusion. With the artichoke lamp, a series of metal fins suspended at different angles provide varying levels of diffusion.
And like all Louis Poulsen lighting designed by Poul Henningsen, it has been made to ensure that it is almost impossible to see the lamp’s light source, making it shadow free and perfect for any setting at any height.
The AJ range is made mainly of steel and glass materials, and uses straight-line geometric shapes to reflect light effectively.

Aesthetics are then taken into account to ensure the fixture is pleasing to the eye.”
Fittings are made from high quality materials and come in a number of different finishes including aluminium, steel, copper and brass.
The arrival of Louis Poulsen coincides with the opening of a new ESAG combination store for its IDdesign, Better Life and Dulux brands at Mall of the Emirates, which stock a full range of Louis Poulsen lighting. The flagship outlet covers 35,000 square feet. At the new store customers can address all their home furnishing needs including fitting out the kitchen, painting the home, matching and designing curtains and upholstery, accessorising and furnishing living and bedrooms.
