The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed ElBaradei, arrived in Tehran Wednesday morning, IRNA reported. ElBaradei was welcomed at Mehrabad International Airport by officials of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO).
ElBaradei and his accompanying delegation are to hold negotiations with the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization and other state officials on the possibility of increasing cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
The IAEA chief said in Germany before heading for Tehran that he is visiting Iran to encourage Tehran to sign the Additional Protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) for further inspection over Iran's nuclear facilities.
Meanwhile, South Korean intelligence sources said that a large Iranian cargo ship presumed to be a military equipment transport ship recently entered a North Korean Yellow Sea port, Joongang Ilbo newspaper reported Wednesday.
According to the report, this is the first Iranian ship to call at a North Korean port in a year. A South Korean intelligence official said the ship arrived last week at Haeju harbor and is still docked there. Haeju is about 120 kilometers northwest of Seoul. (Albawaba.com)
